Default If I would be an alien I wouldn't come here because ...

Letter from an alien friend:

Dear Earth inhabitants,

I was thinking of contacting you, but after little research on Earth customs, history and current level of understanding I have decided to postpone my visit.
For the moment I would not visit you because:

  • You have violent history (past and present) and you are prone to continue in the same liking.
  • You do not have legislation to protect or recognize me
  • Governments will try to use the event to capitalize so where to land?
  • Advancing Earth technologies with my help will not help you become more human, or a more evolved and civilized being but will give you more tools to "express" your dark side
  • I have being young and fullish to try to contact you in the past but I got locked and studied for some time in dark forgotten place.
I am sure you can add more reasons...

Signed
Mr Ali En

Human are so violante and destructive, in alot of ways humans remind me of the common cockroach, they move into an area, they populate, destroy, and consume every resource until nothing is left and then when there is nothing more, they move on. How barbaric, and they are only getting worse with time.

(plastic ... we must be for plastic ... :] reminder from some joke ....)

Jason, in Europe more people are developing in a more sustainable way as they ussualy stay in one place the whole life. In US there is more movement of the families to a better condition location.
Where I live people like to own they house thus living in that area for the entire life and many times kids remain in the same city.
Emigration has move most people abroad but in rest is little movement.

But as stardust said we have fair share of angels and pigs

More plastic more plastic

I think the most interesting question regarding this subject is whether or not the extraterrestrial life force that might choose to visit earth would be friendly, hostile or other. A specific intention would help me answer the thread appropriately. Until otherwise prompted, I'll assume friendly. The simplest and best case scenario for visitation by intelligent extraterrestrial entities is exploration alone. Any living being smart enough to create a machine capable of exploring space and time would have the natural curiosity of exploration; to yearn to explore for no other reason than to further ones own knowledge of the Universe; to go and see new places in this infinity of space, time, and matter; to see new things foreign to what they understand as terrestrial to their natural environment; to document their findings and catalog their conclusions in an effort to insure that their future generations would posses the knowledge that they’d discovered in the past.

Do we tell the bugs in the Rain-Forrest we're studying them?
Why would an advanced genus look upon Humanity any different?
