| I was wondering how easy we can be fulled by a more developed race / being ... to think they are gods or almighty alien race. Even us we can do so realistic visual effects that a merely 100 year older than us civilization can appear good like to us. Or to most of us... Imagine you drink tea and turn TV on to find news about alien arriving to earth in shiny spacecraft parking just above your city. Would you think Jesus is coming or just an advance race bother to visit us? Or maybe look again at the tea box to find if it is weed (by accident Probably the only good thing from this hypothetical morning would be the tea. |

| This reminds me book of Polish sci-fi writer Janusz Zajdel - "Out of the Shadow", really good novel with tricky and definitely non-standard vision of aliens |

| What did the native populations think of the Spanish conquistadors when they first saw them? I think half of a century is not enough for a deep mentality shift... I think that if some advanced beings would come and would say they are gods, we would still believe them. I think we would believe anything they'd say, except if our politicians prove to be more skilled in manipulation... |

| I think we wouldn't... After all we are couple hunderds of years far away from thinking the unexplained things is the devine things. There is alraedy "common knowledge"(maybe apart 3rd World countries) than usage only of 10% brains leaves enourmous space for other pure human abilities Plus... Our current religions don't like competition... ;] and I think the new "gods" would be in deep s..t trying to explain themselves to the fathers of main relegions... and only cooperating with them they could be get naming of goddes - otherwise they will be clearly called the devilish seeds and whole humanity would be raised against them in order to fight them back

| After some late reading I am also thinking first contact can be tricky. Coming to our planet can split our world in 2 (at least). One thinking is good thing other suspecting a soft invasion, thus taking actions against. Some who like our world as fragmented as possible will use this opportunity. But again the level of knowledge making you able to travel interstellar (and don't die of old age If you think that facts from our planet (that at some moment you see them on TV) can be covered is highly likely a previous contact was cover up for the sake of maintaining the current status quo. Or to change perception on a developing contact. And before I am referring about the images with a round 2 meter hole in Pentagon building (clearly I remember I have seen it in live transmission) that was after never presented afterwards. How you support a plain hitting Pentagon with only a round whole in the wall?
